Dunkel Index

The Dunkel Index was originally created in 1929, to settle a dispute between two men over which college football team was better. At the time, sports teams did not play other teams from far away regions, so they had to devise a formula to compare these teams who would otherwise never meet in an actual game.

The Dunkel Index saw its popularity peak during the 1970s when it was used to help come up with the weekly power rankings in various sports, particularly football. As the 70s past and the 80s set in, the Dunkel Index slowly faded and lost popularity until recent years.

The age old formula has seen a renewed interest with the introduction of its website and the new application of their formula.
