An indoor sports arena located in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Bankers Life Fieldhouse serves primarily as the home of the National Basketball Association’s Indiana Pacers.

Originally named Conseco Fieldhouse when it opened in November of 1999 in the place of the Pacers’ former home, Market Square Arena.

The venue was built with the primary idea in mind to be the home of the NBA’s Pacers, but it does serve for other purposes such as entertainment and is capable of holding an NHL ice rink.

It was ranked the Number 1 venue in the NBA according to Sports Business Journal in 2005, 2006, and 2007.

History

• Concession, a financial company based in Carmel, Indiana, bought the rights, but they later changed their company name to CNO Financial Group in May of 2010, but left the name of the arena as is for the time being.

• CNO Financial Group eventually decided to change the name of the stadium to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in December of 2011.

• The Pacers opened up the stadium with the first NBA game played there on November 6, 1999 against the Boston Celtics. The Pacers went on to reach the NBA Finals that season, but lost to the Lakers.

• It was the host of the 2009 WNBA Finals in 2009 as the Indiana Fever lost the series to the Phoenix Mercury.
